Over my 21 years at this university, I have witnessed many colleagues - academic and professional - whose work goes unnoticed, unrecognised, or taken for granted. I have seen commitment exploited, goodwill assumed, and dedication met with indifference. These patterns of unfairness and opportunistic behaviour by management are not isolated; they are systemic. We can do better and we must do better.

My desire to serve on this committee is driven by a simple conviction: the University of Sydney is too important to be run like a business. Our responsibility is to the people who make this institution what it is, our academic staff, our professional staff, our students, and the broader society we serve. I want to help create working conditions that respect their contributions, protect their wellbeing, and enable them to thrive.

With the right governance, it can be a place where fairness is the norm, not the exception. My commitment is to help steer us in that direction.
